Why we started FitPals
Life in Downtown Los Angeles presents unique challenges for dogs and their owners. Crowded sidewalks, busy intersections, shared elevators and constant distractions require more than basic obedience. Dogs need confidence, structure, socialization, exercise and consistent guidance to navigate urban life successfully.
That’s why we created FitPals Los Angeles: a trainer-led urban pack walking experience that combines exercise, socialization, mental enrichment and everyday training.
Experience built through real-world training
Over the years, we’ve worked with hundreds of dogs across different breeds, sizes, personalities and behavioral backgrounds.
From internationally rescued dogs and local shelter adoptees to dogs struggling with leash manners, anxiety, reactivity or inconsistent training, our experience has taught us that every dog deserves an individualized approach.
Our structured pack walks reinforce essential urban skills, including calm leash walking, impulse control, navigating shared spaces and appropriate social interactions.
We also provide one-on-one training for active FitPals clients, helping owners understand and reinforce the skills their dogs practice with us. Because meaningful progress doesn’t end when the walk is over.
Creating confident urban dogs
Our approach extends beyond the sidewalk.
We help dogs develop the skills needed to navigate Downtown LA’s high-rise lifestyle, from calmly entering elevators and moving through shared hallways to passing other dogs respectfully on busy streets.
Our goal is to help dogs and their owners feel more confident, comfortable and connected in their everyday environment.
Beyond the walk: building community
Our commitment to Downtown Los Angeles inspired us to create the DTLA Dog Walking Club, a free monthly community initiative that brings local dog owners together through structured group walks, training and social connection.
Through partnerships with neighborhood cafés, restaurants, pet businesses and animal rescues, we’re helping build a stronger, more welcoming dog community while supporting the local businesses that make DTLA unique.
Our merchandise also helps fund community events, with a portion of proceeds supporting local rescue organizations through our grant program.
Our mission
To elevate the everyday dog-walking experience through professional guidance, consistent training, meaningful socialization and genuine care, while helping dogs and their humans thrive together in an urban environment.
