Trainer-led dog pack walk at Pershing Square in Downtown LA

Trainer-led pack walks in Downtown LA More than just a walk

Your dog is family, so their walk should be more than a quick lap around the block. In a small pack led by a dog trainer, your dog gets to explore the city, spend time with familiar friends and practice good manners along the way. They come home happy and tired, and you get photos and a note after every walk.

Why FitPals · Our mission

Every walk should leave your dog better than before

To elevate the everyday dog-walking experience through professional guidance, consistent training, meaningful socialization and genuine care, while helping dogs and their humans thrive together in an urban environment.

Why we do it

City life is hard on dogs. Small apartments, crowded sidewalks, scooters and long workdays leave many dogs anxious, under-exercised or reactive. Most dog walking is a quick lap around the block. We believe a walk should do more, so every FitPals pack is led by a dog trainer. Moving downtown can feel especially chaotic for a dog, and a steady pack walk routine helps them settle into their new home.

Meet the founders

Alexandra and Janriel founded FitPals in 2018 on a simple belief: dogs deserve more than a quick potty break. As head trainers, they've worked with hundreds of dogs, from international rescues and shelter adoptees to dogs working through leash manners, anxiety and reactivity, and they created the DTLA Dog Walking Club.

“I noticed my dog go from anxiety-ridden, aloof and distant to well-adjusted, gentle and loving.”

I'm impressed - FitPals is the best dog walking service I've had the pleasure of using, Hands down.

They're passionate, creative and have your pup's well-being in mind. I met with Alexandra and Janriel (The owners - they're so down to earth and let their work speak for itself) for my meet & greet to make sure my dog is a good fit and was immediately put at ease with their experience and knowledge.

I came close to letting my 4-year-old rescue go, but through FitPals' help (advice, tips, and patience) and walks (3x a week!) I noticed my dog go from anxiety-ridden, aloof and distant to well-adjusted, gentle and loving.

Totally blown away by the overall services they provide. I specifically use them to socialize my pup through their pack walks/dog walking service which can include a tracked map of your dog's walk, photos and, video updates!

Thanks, FitPals - I'm grateful for what you do!!

“Roxie is now confident because of her pack walks with Janriel & Alexandra.”

We were introduced to FitPals right as Janriel was finishing up a walk with a neighbor's dog. We could tell right away that he is a professional AND expert. I quickly agreed to set up a FaceTime with him and Alexandra, and was extremely impressed with their business; they've been servicing the pups of DTLA for 10 years!

Fast forward a month later, our shy puppy, Roxie, is thriving! Janriel & Alexandra's consistency, tips/tricks, and overall dog knowledge have made a huge difference for us and our girl. Originally she was terrified of going outside; going to the bathroom was out of the question and she shook like a leaf any time a bus or car drove [by]. Roxie is now confident because of her pack walks with Janriel & Alexandra. She is getting proper socialization in a controlled environment, discipline, and affection. As the owners, we are receiving tips on how to help parent that have proven invaluable, especially as Roxie is only 6 months old.

Pack walking is an amazing option for any dog, but especially for those folks who have nervous nellies, like we do. I am so happy I met Janriel that day and we began this journey. We absolutely recommend FitPals 10x over and are looking forward to remaining long-term clients. Thank you for taking care of our girl!

“He is finally fully potty trained to the point where he tells me when he needs to go outside!”

Finding Fitpals has been one of the best things I could have done for my pup. Living in DTLA can make it very difficult to raise a dog (at least for me I am a new dog mom) from potty training to navigating walking the city with a new curious puppy, it was extremely difficult. I thought I had to do everything on my own and I am grateful I reached out to Janriel & Alexandra. Not only is my very excitable puppy walking confidently in a pack, he is finally fully potty trained to the point where he tells me when he needs to go outside! It has been so wonderful seeing all his progress over these past few months. Finding someone I can trust with the most important little guy in my life is such a gift.

“The best dog walking services! I would not trust anyone with my puppies.”

The best dog walking services! I would not trust anyone with my puppies. Fitpals are advance professionals when it's comes to dogs behavior, socializing and training. I feel safe knowing my puppies are with responsible and insured dogs handlers on a crazy streets of DTLA. Fitpals helping so much with my foster german shepperd, she was rescued from back yard, was horrified of all the noises and was impossible to walk. Fitpals created plan of action for her and in a such a short period of time she became adjusted to the city, loud noises and many other distractions on the street.

Thank you thank you thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me with my pack. Highly recommend to all of my dtla neighbors.

“He's learned how to confidently walk alongside other dogs!”

Alexandra & Janriel have been walking our dog twice a week, and the difference they've made has been incredible. Our dog Ham wasn't well socialised when we first got to LA and through their patience, knowledge, and guidance, he's learned how to confidently walk alongside other dogs!

Their understanding of dog behaviour is incredibly impressive and it's clear they care deeply about the dogs they work with. They communicate very well with us and are very reliable. I trust them with my dog completely! We're so grateful to have found them and couldn't recommend them more highly!!

“Janriel does a wonderful job of integrating new dogs into the pack.”

We absolutely love FitPals and would recommend the service to anyone looking for a reliable dog walker in Downtown LA! We've used them for the past 8 months and have noticed our girls always get plenty of exercise on their walks. Janriel does a wonderful job of integrating new dogs into the pack. This was especially useful for our younger pup who is a little skittish by nature and really needed socialization. Now she's totally comfortable around other dogs. We have FitPals to thank for that. 10/10 for the service.

“Alexandra was able to get my dog pack walking with other dogs.”

This is an amazing service. I get anxious about my pup because he gets anxious himself, so finding someone I trusted to walk my dog was a big deal to me. Fortunately, fitpals sent someone to do a consultation for no extra cost before I needed their service, in order to ensure that my dog and the walkers were comfortable with one another.

I was most impressed by the fact that Alexandra was able to get my dog pack walking with other dogs. He's not been socialized, but due to her professionalism and knowledge of dogs, she had him walking alongside multiple dogs of various sizes.

I also deeply appreciate the doggy logs that follow the walk - I am given a breakdown of where my pup did his potty breaks, where he walked, what time the walk started and ended, and pictures of him during the walk. It is extremely thorough and a great comfort to dog parents like me, who are (overly) attached to their fluff balls. Who would've thought that the happiest part of my day at Disneyland would be getting an update on the whereabouts and activities of my dog?

“It was much more than a walk. We got a fun, structured walk with training pit stops along the way.”

My pup and I started joining FitPals' pack walks at the beginning of this year with the ginormous walk in January. We thought we were just going to walk around DTLA with fellow four-legged athletes and their pawrents. Wrong! It was much more than a walk. We got a fun, structured walk with training pit stops along the way and we met some new furiends throughout the morning to boot! We had such a great time we had to make sure we came back for more! Lucky us, we have been able to join the last 3 out of 4 of the 2026 walks. FitPals' team are the trainers everyone wants to work with their furbabies - they are patient, committed, and friendly and it's obvious with each event that they are mindful of how to maximize the pack walk experience to incorporate socialization, training and fun while also benefiting the community and spotlighting up and coming products at the same time. Four paws up for FitPals! And for FitPals Athletics shoes! My pup got new shoes after she ripped through her old shoes at one of FitPals' walks. As soon as the new kicks got their final velcro closure, she was off and running! Thank you, FitPals, for everything! Can't wait for the next pack walk (and hopefully the next pair of shoes when they start making size 0s).

Before you book

Quick answers

What areas does FitPals serve?

Downtown LA's Historic Core, Fashion District, Jewelry District, South Park and Financial District.

How much does dog walking cost?

Every new dog starts with a one-hour assessment walk, which is a one-time $45 fee. After that, every plan requires a consistent weekly commitment, with walks on the same days every week: 1–2 walks a week are $45 per walk, 3 walks a week are $120 per week ($40 a walk) and 5 walks a week are $190 per week ($38 a walk).

What does my dog need to join?

A collar with a name tag, current vaccines (Bordetella, Rabies and DHPP), a flea preventative, basic leash manners and a friendly temperament. Every dog starts with an assessment walk.

What time are pickups?

Monday to Friday. The small dog group (5–40 lb) is picked up between 10 and 11 am, and the big dog group (40 lb and up) between 12:30 and 1:30 pm. We don't walk on weekends.

How do you decide if my dog is a good fit for a group?

At the assessment walk, a trainer watches how your dog walks on a leash and responds to other dogs, people, handling and city noise, and notes their energy level. We then place them with a compatible group, or recommend training first if they need more preparation.

Is the consultation in person?

No. Consultations are virtual, so you can book one from anywhere. The only exception is 1-on-1 training, which starts with an in-person consultation.

My dog pulls, lunges or is nervous. Can they still join?

Book a consultation and we'll evaluate your dog's needs. Some dogs benefit from training before they join a group, and we'll recommend a plan to prepare them for the pack.
