Pack walks in Downtown LA, led by dog trainers

FitPals runs DTLA’s only pack walks led by dog trainers. Your dog spends 60 minutes in a small, safely paired group, building leash manners, confidence and calm on real city streets.

What is a pack walk?

A pack walk is a structured group walk. A trainer leads a small group of compatible dogs on a set route, and every dog stays on leash the whole time. Dogs are social animals, so walking together with clear leadership gives them exercise, social practice and mental work in the same hour.

It is the opposite of a dog park. There is no free-for-all and no guessing who is in charge. The structure is what makes dogs calmer, both on the walk and at home afterward.

Why trainer-led makes the difference

  • Routine. Same days, same pickup window, same structure. Predictability lowers anxiety and cuts down boredom behaviors like chewing and barking.
  • Consistency. Every pack leader uses the same cues and rules, so good habits build week after week instead of resetting each walk.
  • Counter-conditioning. DTLA is full of triggers: dogs, scooters, skateboards, crowds. Your dog meets them at a distance they can handle, paired with calm, positive experiences, until the trigger stops being a big deal.

Two groups, sized for safety

Safety comes first on every walk. Social groups are capped at 6 to 8 dogs per handler, and we always assess each dog’s energy level and temperament and pair dogs that are safe together.

We absolutely love FitPals and would recommend the service to anyone looking for a reliable dog walker in Downtown LA! We've used them for the past 8 months and have noticed our girls always get plenty of exercise on their walks. Janriel does a wonderful job of integrating new dogs into the pack. This was especially useful for our younger pup who is a little skittish by nature and really needed socialization. Now she's totally comfortable around other dogs. We have FitPals to thank for that. 10/10 for the service.

“Alexandra was able to get my dog pack walking with other dogs.”

This is an amazing service. I get anxious about my pup because he gets anxious himself, so finding someone I trusted to walk my dog was a big deal to me. Fortunately, fitpals sent someone to do a consultation for no extra cost before I needed their service, in order to ensure that my dog and the walkers were comfortable with one another.

I was most impressed by the fact that Alexandra was able to get my dog pack walking with other dogs. He's not been socialized, but due to her professionalism and knowledge of dogs, she had him walking alongside multiple dogs of various sizes.

I also deeply appreciate the doggy logs that follow the walk – I am given a breakdown of where my pup did his potty breaks, where he walked, what time the walk started and ended, and pictures of him during the walk. It is extremely thorough and a great comfort to dog parents like me, who are (overly) attached to their fluff balls. Who would've thought that the happiest part of my day at Disneyland would be getting an update on the whereabouts and activities of my dog?
